-Lashun Pace- He Keeps Doing Great Things For Me

Question of the Day

A friend of mine posted the following question on Facebook. I thought I'd share it and ask my blogging friends:
What would be the most exciting or terrifying discovery you could make if you could actually look through someone else's eyes?

The Great I AM

And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
Exodus 3:14

I want to be close, close to Your side
So Heaven is real and death is a lie
I want to hear voices of angels above
Singing as one

[CHORUS]
Hallelujah, holy, holy
God Almighty, the great I AM
Who is worthy, none beside Thee
God Almighty, the great I AM

I want to be near, near to Your heart
Loving the world and hating the dark
I want to see dry bones living again
Singing as one

[CHORUS]

The mountains shake before You the demons run in fear
At the mention of the name King of Majesty
There is no power in hell
Or any who can stand
Before the power and the presence of the great I AM

[CHORUS]

Here's the Flag-Crazy Senate Intern Email Everyone in D.C. is Reading

Byron Thomas, a patriotic young man from "the extremely beautiful state of South Carolina" loves flags. He loves Confederate flags, like the one he hung in his room at the University of South Carolina despite protests from other students. He loves American flags, like the ones that decorate the office of his state's Republican United States Senator Tim Scott, where he has been an intern for eight days.
Sadly, not everyone shows flags as much love as Byron Thomas does. No one else in his office, representing the extremely beautiful state of South Carolina, even says the Pledge of Allegiance before work every day, like he does.
Byron Thomas is reaching out to change this. So he sent out an email this morning, inviting staff and fellow interns to a cool flag party happening every day before 9 a.m.

Good morning
My name is Byron Thomas and I'm from the extremely beautiful state of South Carolina. I intern for Republican Senator Tim Scott. I've had the pleasure of coming into different offices to meet the staff and interns from different states. Yes, we are all different and are working on different agendas but at the end of the day, we're all citizens of the greatest country on earth, known as the United States of America. Now I've only been here for 8 days but I can tell that something is wrong, (in my opinion). We have American flags in front of every room, but I’ve never seen anyone take the time to proudly say the Pledge of Allegiance. Truly ask yourself, when was the last time you put your hand on your heart and said the Pledge of Allegiance. Now, I’m not attacking anybody because it’s your freedom and right to not say it but I’m assuming everyone that’s working up here loves this awesome country. Are we that busy that we can’t take a minute to show some pride and respect for our country? I say it every morning before I walk in because America’s always on my mind. I truly care about this country and I refuse to let this country fall. I know saying the pledge isn’t going to straighten out this economy we are in, but I believe it’s the little things that will take us far in life. We’re living in a truly blessed country and our generation has a great opportunity to be the greatest generation this country has ever had. I have a ton of faith in our generation because we will get America back on track! We all have to work together, so we can keep that American Dream alive for future generations. Now, I would love to say the pledge with the different offices before 9am (because that’s when I start work). All I want is for our generation to show that we’re united and that we’re going to stand together. We’ll always be One Nation, Under God. I hope you’ll see my words as kind and respectful because I’m truly not attacking anybody. I just truly care about this country and I want to work with everybody. Overwhelm People with Kindness and May God Bless the United States of America
P.S. Please share my message to your staff and interns or other offices that I didn’t reach, if you would like. Also if any events are happening, please let me know I would love to come.

All will bow to the flag. And Byron Thomas, mistress to the stars (and bars) and stripes, will rule. And please invite him to your events, if you have any.
(Judging by his apparently earnest pro-slavery Facebook and Twitter accounts, it's possible Byron Thomas is a late '80s Saturday Night Live sketch that has crossed the membrane into real life.)

Don't Forget.

Don't forget to set your clock back 50 years tonight before you go to sleep.

                                --Warren Sapp, on Twitter

Who is this guy?

His nane is Emmitt Till. He was a 14-year-old boy from Chicago. He was visiting his relatives in Mississippi when he was snatched from his great-uncle's home on the night of August 28. He was then beaten, shot in the head, and then thrown into Tallahatchie River. His body was found three days later. Ostensibly, the murderers killed Till because he whistled at a white woman.
When Emmett Till's body was found, his mom, Mamie Till-Mobley, insisted on having Emmett's mutilated body returned to Chicago, where she had an open-casket funeral for him. A picture of Emmett's mutilated, bloated face was shown around the country and was one of the sparks of the Civil Rights Movement.

If you're white you're right.
 If you're black step back.
 If you're brown, stick around.

Blood on the leaves

Sweet land of Liberty

Black men, Amerikkka has re-confirmed that (in their minds) we are not valued. The Justice system didn't fail Trayvon... A system cannot fail those it was never meant to protect.

An injustice was served today

I am usually a very positive person, but right now I am utterly disgusted by our country's justice system. Shame on Florida, shame on the people of the jury, and shame on anyone who doesn't see this as a travesty not just to African Americans but to all Americans. My heart is heavy tonight.
Had a gun-toting Trayvon Martin stalked an unarmed George Zimmerman, and then shot him to death... DO I EVEN NEED TO COMPLETE THIS SENTENCE? ‪#‎trayvonmartin‬

There goes the neighborhood

So this morning as I was taking the garbage containers to the curb just before leaving the house to go to work , my new neighbor, this older lady, sees me as she leaves her house and she approaches me. She says:
" Looking through the trash? Do you need a meal?"
Me - "No. I live here. Hi, my name is Alieux."
Older lady- “You do? Since when?”
Me- “Almost 6 years.”
Older lady - “ I didn’t know-“
Me- “Didn’t know what?”
Older lady, looking nervous – “well, it’s so quiet. I’ve been here for a month now and I haven’t heard any loud rap music or bass through the walls or coming from any cars. You must work the night shift.”
Me- “ OMG, the last thing I need is a stupid old racist living right next door to me.”
Older lady- “I’m not racist. I love you people. I hear about you on the news all the time but I never lived next door to one.”
I really struggle to be respectful to the elderly, and so I left before sinking down to her level and verbally tearing her to shreds.

Overheard today

I just heard an older lady tell a young man who was being wheeled away from the hospital to a waiting vehicle outside : 'the universe makes us stumble in order to prevent a fall.' I thought it was deep.

I believe that. I wonder if we realize this?

Questions

Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.

Question of the Day

Have you ever been stabbed in the back
By someone you thought was really cool?
Did they steal your lover or was it money
Or was it lies they told?

Maxwell- Simply Beautiful

If

If I had a superpower, it would be the ability to gain back a minute for every minute I've wasted.
If that power was possible, I'd probably be about 28, rather than 50.

أحسنت يا طيبة ومخلصة في الخدمة( well done my good and faithful servant )

This is the tattoo I have on my left bicep. I've had it for about 12 yrs now At the end of every testimony segment of my mom's church service, she always says, " I would like for God to say to me,well done my good and faithful servant."  I've been hearing that for as long as I can remember.
That still resonates with me.

Song in my head: Ahmir

I'm glad I found other than tho original version. I don't like the original singer. I won't even list his name.

Tuesday Flashback

I remember when this song was new. I had met someone over the weekend. Madison Wisconsin. We talked that night in her car. This song came on the radio, and we both knew all the words, and we sang them. It was a great weekend. I remember calling in sick on monday morning, because I was still in her bed...
What a great weekend that was.

Back down memory lane

"In some ways it's difficult for some people to understand what they haven't lived through."

I came across an old Phil Donahue clip where Christina Crawford was a guest and an audience member asked if her siblings felt the same way about their mother Joan Crawford that she did. That comment reminded me of my sister and myself and our relationship with my father ( who I discovered was not my father). As far as I was concerned, the man that my sister idolized as if he was the second coming, was a giant monster. And my sister and I, though we love each other, our childhood  memories are as different as night and day. That's because she was oblivious to his mistreatment of me, and when my mother and I have gone down memory lane to talk about the things he's done to me, my sister has a completely different memory of what occurred. And she doesn't like us talking negatively about him. So we don't.

Not in her presence.

Through good times and bad

In  a little over an hour from now, my best friend and his partner of almost 15 years will have their civil  ceremony. I'm excited for them. Because his partner isn't out to his family, I'm not mentioning names, or posting pictures.  They've been through hell and back and are still together. They still have a long way to go though.  I'm praying for them and wishing them the best of luck!
