Short Story

This came to my In-bin from a coworker, who always sends something daily. I loved this one, and had to share it. The author is unknown;

This is the story of four people: Everybody,
Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done, and
Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry, because it was
Everybody’s job. Everybody thought that
Somebody would do it.
But nobody asked Anybody.
It ended up that the job wasn’t done, and
Everybody blamed Everybody, when actually
Nobody asked Anybody.

The Cut

It was lowdown.
the cut
underneath the flesh
of hidden talk
the forced smile in front of porcelain teeth
the right eye sleeping
while the left eye watches,
fast like a bullet shot
there’s a lack of mercy;
you stood
tall like a tree
your nose threatening to scrape the sky
you were smooth like the wind
The talk is smooth
& arrogant
Under the weight of truth
In the presence of light like roaches.
& how do I react?
by feigning indifference

(this disappoints u)

My heart is empty
hollowed out
at points
where cracks have formed
and you,
in need of a healing?
But love can not be defined in selfish terms
While you bury the truth under the weight of your lies,
I move through faith
